The Storenextdoor Guide to Storage and Self Storage in the Bristol area

Bristol has come a long way since its days as a thriving port to the Americas. In 2014 the city is known more for aircraft than ships, with the likes of Boeing and Airbus based north of the city and a host of engineering firms elsewhere. Alongside neighbouring Bath there's a fast-growing tech scene, and at the top of Park Street sits a world-class university. All of this combined makes for a bustling, international city. Being sat on the M4 also makes it one full of moving people, making the choice of self-storage available in the city excellent as a result. Let's look at the options.

All-purpose Storage

The major storage chains are all well represented in region and offer units ideal for domestic, business and student storage. The first of these you can't help but notice when entering the city via the A4: two giant red brick buildings dominating the skyline. One of these former tobacco warehouses belongs to Safestore and provides some of the largest self-store facilities in the country – each of the ten floors is the size of a football pitch. Safestore also have sites in Filton and close to the city centre, in Old Market. The UK Storage Company Ltd also have two multi-purpose sites in Avonmouth and south of the city in Bedminster. Alligator Storage have a site in Brislington, as do Britannia Lanes. For something much larger, Admiral's Yard offer units with capacity for the contents of a 4-bedroom house. They're conveniently based in Stoke Bishop, close to the M4-M5 interchange.

Household and Business Storage

Alongside these national providers are a number of reliable and well-established independent firms, great for storing documents, furniture, cars and bikes. On the outskirts of town the Avonmouth Space Program have a variety of containers big enough to hold vehicles. Bristol South Storage and Advanced Removals serve Bedminster. Big Brown Storage are also based in the South of the city, off the Bath Road. Behind Temple Meads Station you'll find Red Spot Self Storage. They've pledged to beat any storage quote, and also offer a 10% discount for those working in the Armed Forces, MOD, NHS or Emergency Services. Of course Bath isn't far away and there are some good options there; from container storage at Perry Storage to a medium size Safestore.

Vehicle Storage

If storage for your vehicle is what you're after,Lock Up Garages in Clifton are well-suited for cars, while X-tra Space in Bishopsworth hold smaller collections and bikes. For caravans, motorhomes, boats and of course, cars, Bristol Car Storage in Stoke Bishop is most central. Outside of the city the options become much more varied:Ninepound Storage in Emerson's Green allow access during weekdays, while Frank Bruce & Co in Hanham lease a lock-up garages for cars and bikes. South of the city,Maplecroft Storage in Claverham own a large warehouse with space for caravans, motorhomes and boats (or anything else you can think of...)

Removals and Storage

Not owning your own transport can make transferring your collection to storage a problem and many of the storage services in the city offer removal vehicles for this reason. Both Britannia and The Big Yellow Storage Company in Ashton Gate and Redfield offer countrywide transportation, while Br1stol Removals, GWR Removals, Bristol Hour Removals and R&J Removals provide a similar comprehensive service the city. In Bath, Marden offer a friendly service (and also offer containers for self storage), and there's also a Pickfords

Neighbourhood Storage

If you feel like your collection is too small to warrant a whole container, renting a small space from a property-owner is also possible. In Bristol's attics, garages and spare rooms, our 'Neighbourhood Storage' search makes finding spots like these easy.
